The Land O’Burns Weekender 2019

Now in its third year, the Land O’Burns Weekender promises to be bigger and even better than before! In a huge collective effort, Ayr Rugby Club is transformed into a world class Beach Rugby & Family Festival venue. The Weekender includes……

• 1200 square metre Beach Rugby pitch created by trucking in nearly 400 tonnes of sand.
• Friday night “Trades” mixed touch tournament featuring local companies and organisations.
• Friday Night “Beach Party” themed opening night with local band “The Usual Suspects.”
• Saturday’s high octane “Big Prize” Men’s & Women’s Beach Rugby tournament.
• Internationally acclaimed DJ Stefan Janik performing pitchside
• Giant kids sand pit.
• Billy Hammonds fantastic funfair.
• M&M Productions Kids Theatre Show.
• Family friendly food & drink court.
• All day Saturday, live music from “Just like Eddie” playing vintage Rock’n’Roll from the 50’s & 60’s and “Hunkydory” playing all your pop favourites on stage two from 1pm ‘til 7pm.
• Saturday night main stage, “Wildcard” classic rock band with a big sound, from 8 til late.
• Fully licensed Hawaiian Marquee overlooking the Beach Rugby and Food & Drink court.

On Friday, Millbrae hosts the Trades Mixed Touch Rugby Tournament with local companies, organisations, clubs and farmers competing to be crowned champions. Entertainment is provided by  DJ Stefan Yanik who will be playing pitch side before moving into the Hawaiian themed Marquee, in addition local sensations The Usual Suspects will take to stage 1 to host the opening Beach Party until late! There will be a fully licensed bar, hot food, a fairground and plenty of fun, games and dancing!

On Saturday, the Adrenalin fuelled Men’s & Women’s beach rugby tournament will take place. With Big Prize money, competing teams come from across the UK, fiercely battling to be crowned champions. This year’s tournament is not for the light hearted, expect plenty of high-octane action, thumps, thrills & spills!

Relax in The Hawaiian themed Marquee or in the Food & Drink court which will be fully licensed serving refreshing drinks, hot food, coffee & donuts and ice cream throughout the weekend.

On stage 2, beside the food & drink court, catch your breath with fantastic live entertainment  performed by local stars, “Just like Eddie” & “Hunkydory who will be performing throughout the day.

In the family area, the “Billy Hammond Fantastic Funfair” will feature big rides, a simulator, funhouse, kiddie rides, inflatables and a bungee trampoline. In addition there will be the kids Giant Sand Pit and at 2pm, the incredible M&M Theatrical Productions will bring the “Magic of Theatre” to stage 1 and perform their award winning kids theatre show. (suitable for 4-12 years)

Saturday evening will see the celebrations continue with the prize giving ceremony followed by the closing party from 8pm until late. Hosted by local classic rock band “Wildcard” this four piece band are famous for playing classic rock hits with a big sound and everybody will be welcome to dance the night away .
